I didn’t expect to be blogging so soon, but this place deserves a post of its own. We expected to be doing a quick run up the Atlantic coast of Florida, but then we got to Savannas Recreation Area between Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie. It’s described as a mini Everglades, “perhaps the last most unique and pristine wilderness area in the United States.” There are pines, prairies, marshes, and waterways. We signed in for one night. And then another. And then another.
Our campsite is right on the water
There has been an abundance of birds
And the water is navigable
The skies are remarkable
And each day’s dawn promises new discoveries
But as is so often the case, the road calls. Tomorrow we’re off to St. Augustine.
We liked it there two. The bike trail there was pretty nice although relatively short. Lots of great campsites. We’d go back
