We spent two nights in Corpus Christi to allow us to visit Padre Island and a bit further up the coast to Rockport. It was great to be on the beach.
We didn’t get a real feel for Corpus Christi itself and were happy to be heading East.
We spent one night in Port Arthur, but we stayed hooked up and then just set out in the morning. Although I-10 into Louisiana had reopened after being closed due to the flooding of the Sabine River, we opted to take Highway 82 along the coast.
It was a lovely drive and we experienced a first: taking the rig on a ferry. Our first Louisiana stop was Lafayette, where we spent three nights at Arcadiana Sate Park, our favorite campsite so far.
We had our own bayou and the population of the campground varied between 1 and 2 other rigs and they were pretty far away. Abbey could be off leash and there were some nice hikes right from the campground.
Lafayette highlights included a night at the Blue Moon Saloon with Jesse Dayton and the Supersuckers, a Cajun Food Tour, and a trip on Bayou Teche.
Super cool pics! Love the gater.
