We returned from Hawaii and picked up the dog took one last walk through the desert we’ve come to love. This time by the Vulture mine, east of Wickenburg.
In the morning we hooked up the fiver and hit the road again. We drove up Hwy 17 to Camp Verde and then through a very different terrain at higher elevation to Winslow.
We got the required shot (with memorials to Glenn Frey) and visited La Posada and then headed for Holbrook, where we spent the night. Holbrook, like much of our drive, is rich with Route 66 attractions. “Have You Slept in a Wigwam Lately?
We headed south in the morning and drove through the Petrified Forest National Park and stopped for great views of the Painted Desert.
And then left Arizona.
